.

On August 1, 2026, at 5:00 a.m. CEST, I will start the Norseman Xtreme Triathlon, one of the most demanding triathlons in the world.

The Norseman isn’t just another race on the calendar. It’s a long-cherished dream: jumping off a ferry into the fjord, crossing the Norwegian highlands, running toward Gaustatoppen, and accepting that the weather, the team, and mental clarity are all part of the performance.

3.8 km

Swim in the fjord, starting from Eidfjord.

180 km

Cycling through Norway and the highlands.

42.2 km

Final marathon to Gaustatoppen.

1.08.2026

Official start at 5:00 a.m. CEST.

Why the Norseman?

After thirteen Ironman events, several Xtreme Triathlons, the Napoleon Ultra-Triathlon, ultra-trail races, and swimruns, the Norseman represents a kind of synthesis: the Ironman distance, but with mountains, cold weather, uncertainty, and the need to strategize the race with your team.

What draws me here isn’t just the challenge. It’s the raw nature of the course: no artificial scenery, no excessive comforts, no promise of a “clean” race. The fjord, the plateau, the road, and then Gaustatoppen. A simple route, but one that’s rarely easy.

Preparation.

Preparation isn't just about racking up kilometers. You have to work on cold tolerance, endurance, nutrition, long bike rides, running while fatigued, and above all, the ability to stay focused when the day gets very long.

This article will serve as a central hub for documenting the final stretch: training, equipment, logistics, support, doubts, adjustments, and a race report once the adventure is over.

Long-Distance Cycling Training
Cycling remains the quiet heart of long-distance training.

What I want to keep here.

I want this page to become a journal. Not a perfect showcase where everything looks perfectly controlled, but a place to keep track of the important details: equipment choices, key training sessions, lessons learned, mistakes, pleasant surprises, moments of doubt, and times when I’m back in shape.

Logistics

Travel, supplies, support team, transitions, cold-weather gear, and logistics for resupply.

Training

Volume, intensity, long workouts, swimming in cold water, running while fatigued, and recovery.

Story

After the race, this page will feature the full story, photos, and whatever truly remains of the adventure.

No magic formula. Just hard work, the team, and the determination to be prepared enough to stay focused all the way to Gaustatoppen.
