Lanzarote Landscape for the 2026 Ultra-Lanzarote

Goal 2026 · Enduroman · Playa Blanca

Ultra-
, Lanzarote.

From November 19 to 21, 2026, head to Lanzarote for a three-day ultra-triathlon: running, open-water swimming, and cycling.

Following the Norseman, the Ultra-Lanzarote is set to open a new chapter: an Enduroman format, designed as a major stepping stone toward the Arch to Arc, but also as a complete challenge in its own right.

40 miles

Running on the first day, covering about 64 km.

12 miles

Swimming in the ocean at Playa Blanca, about 19 km away.

90 miles

Cycling on the third day, about 145 km.

Nov. 19–21

Slot scheduled within the official 2026 window.

Why Lanzarote?

Lanzarote comes right after the Norseman in the 2026 race schedule. The change is drastic: we leave behind the Norwegian fjord, the cold, and the mountains for a volcanic island, wind, relatively warm weather, an open-water swim, and a three-day race format.

But the common thread remains the same: building endurance, experimenting with nutrition, learning to start fresh the next day, and gaining experience in formats that go beyond the traditional triathlon.

Day 1

Run

A 40-mile run. The first day immediately raises questions about pace, energy conservation, and recovery.

Day 2

Swim

A 12-mile open-water swim in Playa Blanca. The most specific part of training for a future Arch to Arc project.

Day 3

Bike

A 90-mile bike ride. We'll have to really push ourselves after two already grueling days.

A walk to Arch to Arc.

The official format describes the Ultra-Lanzarote as a “half Arch to Arc” distance: similar enough to test the combination of running, long-distance open-water swimming, and cycling, yet distinct enough to be a major challenge in its own right.

We’ll need to work out some very practical details: nutrition before and during the swim, recovery after the race, pacing over several days, and the ability to get back in the water without waiting until everything feels just right.

Long-distance open-water swim
Long-distance open-water swimming will be one of the key aspects of the project.

What this page will cover.

This page will serve as a journal to document the Norseman’s time in Lanzarote: recovery, getting back on track, training choices, swim preparation, trip planning, and reflections after the race.

Recover

Come out of the Norseman without rushing into the next phase. Build up volume again without upsetting the balance.

Long-distance swimming

Working on endurance at sea, nutrition, and the mental aspects of a very long swim.

Preparing for A2A

Use Lanzarote as a full-scale test for the next Enduroman event and the Arch to Arc project.

Lanzarote won't be a "post-Norseman" event. It will be the first serious test of what comes next.
